Support of the Profession
BERA have provided support to the following:-
Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors
- Members on the QSD Council, Dispute Resolution Sub-Committee, Arbitration Taskforce, Mediation Sub- Committee, Contracts Sub-Committee for the drafting of the new Hong Kong Form of Building Contract, Mainland Sub-Committee and Surveyors Times editorial board.
- Regular monthly articles for the HKIS Surveyors Times on commercial and contractual issues.
- Lectured on dispute resolution at conferences in both Hong Kong and China.
- Co-drafted the RICS / HKIS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) civil engineering examination papers from 1995 to 1997.
Chartered Institute of Builders
- Colin Lee is a past Chairman of the Hong Kong Branch of the CIOB and was instrumental in setting up the Hong Kong Institute of Construction Management (previously the Hong Kong Institute of Building).
Others
- BERA support other local professional and construction-related bodies including the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (East Asia) Branch, the Hong Kong Mediation Council, the Society of Construction Law Hong Kong and the Lighthouse Club.
- BERA participated in the preparation of the sub-contract documentation to complement the Hong Kong Standard Form of Building Contract.
